The personal injury compensation process

With a team of compensation lawyers Brisbane counts on for lower fees and bigger wins, vbr Lawyers is proud to be a little bit different. Getting started is easy. Here’s how it works.

Talk with a lawyer

Get started with an initial conversation with one of our personal injury lawyers. These chats typically take about 30 minutes (but there’s no time limit). We’ll find out all about your claim and what you’ve done so far.

Get a letter of advice

You’ll receive a letter of advice within a few days of that initial conversation. This aims to give you our specific recommendations for your claim and is written simply, so you don’t have to wade through legal jargon. If you haven’t already, the first step is typically seeking medical advice.

Start the process

We’ll start the claim process as soon as you’re ready to go ahead. This will look different, depending on your claim, but it always starts with us notifying the relevant parties and starting to gather evidence.

Our personal injury lawyers are a little bit different.

At vbr Lawyers, we’re proud to say we’re different to the rest.

Win more for less

With lower fees and bigger claims, we win more for less.

No win, no fee

Take the risk out of your claim — you don’t pay until we win.

Always deal with a senior lawyer

You’ll never be left with a junior lawyer or a paralegal.

Work with an award-winning firm

The compensation lawyers in our firm are award-winning.

A compassionate approach

Personal injury claims are overwhelming enough. We take a compassionate approach.

The opposite of the big firms

You’re much more than a number to us. You’ll notice it in our personal approach.

It’s No Win, No Fee

With our No Win, No Fee approach, you don’t have to pay for our legal services until we win compensation for you. It takes the financial pressure out of an already stressful period and offers you security as you claim compensation. If we don’t win your claim, then you don’t have to pay a cent. If we do win your claim, then you will pay a portion of your claim to us once you receive your compensation.

No Win, No Fee exists so that if you’re seeking compensation for injury, illness, or a traumatic event, then you don’t have to withstand the additional pressure of financial stress. Our No Win, No Fee payment structure allows us to support you as you seek the compensation you deserve, without creating an additional financial burden.

Our low fee model

Our law firm wants to make sure you take home a bigger portion of your compensation claim. That’s why we work on a low fee model. In the circumstance that you need to claim compensation, we want you to be able to use the compensation we win for you to get your life back on track.

We charge less

We charge 20 to 40% less in our legal fees than the big firms do. As well as that, we don’t charge uplift (an additional charge for risky claims), and we put a cap on our legal fees (excluding refunds and expenses) at 30% of your claim (legally, we can charge up to 50%). If we win a larger sum of money for you, we won’t still take that full 30%. We’ll just take what we need to cover our professional fees.

And we win more

We work harder to win you a bigger compensation package. Bigger firms tend to churn and burn through cases in an approach that is referred to as “settle low to bring in the dough”. At vbr Lawyers, we want you to win a bigger amount to actually compensate you. We’ll take a slow, steady approach and put in the extra time to get the right evidence, allow injuries to settle, and get all the information to claim more for you. It’s how we get you the compensation you deserve.
